Morse wins Honor America Days 5K
ROME — Camden native Sam Morse won the 50th annual Honor America Days 5K Parade Run Saturday in Rome.
Morse, who was the top local finisher a few weeks ago in the Boilermaker 15K Road Race in Utica, won the Rome race in 15:05.
In second was Roman Jordon Hoffman in 16:08. Griffin Roeder from Delmar, was third (17:43), Nicholas Jeror of Rome was fourth (18:10) and Thomas Joslin of Yorkville was fifth (18:32).
The rest of the top 10 finishers were: Carson Campbell of Lee Center (18:46), Nathan Donaleski of Rome (18:47), Aaron Carey of Barneveld (18:51), Karl Van Hoesel of Rome (19:20) and Christopher Edick of New York Mills (19:37).
Jessica Charles of Oriskany was the top female finisher, and her time of 19:41 put her in 11th overall. Second among the female runners was Alex French of New Hartford (19:54).
There were 209 finishers in the race, which is the oldest road race in Central New York, according to Roman Runners president and race director Matt Moore.
