More than two dozen firearms seized in Madison County incident
SULLIVAN — A Madison County man is facing 34 counts of weapons possession after he stole a motor vehicle and threatened to shoot another person on Saturday, according to the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies said Donald C. Brown, 49, of Sullivan, stole a vehicle on Black Creek Road in Sullivan at about 9 a.m. Saturday. The victim told police that Brown claimed he was going to go home, grab some guns and then shoot a person in Oneida.
Oneida City Police spotted Brown in the city a short time later and a vehicle pursuit ensued. Police said Brown started throwing guns out of the window of the stolen vehicle while being chased. He was eventually stopped and taken into custody.
While at the Sheriff's Office, authorities said Brown intentionally damaged computer equipment in the booking room.
Brown is charged with one count each of fourth-degree grand larceny, second, third and fourth-degree mischief, three counts of third-degree possession of a weapon, one count of criminal possession of a firearm and 29 counts of fourth-degree possession of a weapon, deputies said.
After he was taken into custody, deputies said Brown's residence was searched and multiple weapons and high capacity ammunition feeding devices were seized. Authorities noted that Brown is a convicted felon.
Brown is also facing charges in Oneida related to the pursuit, authorities stated.
Brown was arraigned in court and was sent to the Madison County jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to reappear in court.
