At the Rome school district board meeting two local cosmetologists expressed concern pertaining to the lice situation in our schools. It was stated in the newspaper that there are guidelines from the National Association of Nurses. I would think that the district would have these guidelines published so everyone would understand the procedure.
It seems to me that a physician would be the person to direct the nursing staff; and to say lice are “not very contagious” is a joke.
As for the board cutting the discussion short. it was was absolutely rude. Board meetings are meant to be an opportunity for taxpayers to voice their concerns. If members of the board don’t want to hear comments from the public there is no point in having meetings.
