More federal funds set to fly in for runway project

An additional $369,000 in federal funding will be used for reconstruction of the runway at Griffiss International Airport, announced U.S. Rep. Claudia Tenney, who said she helped secure the funding. The money is being awarded through a grant allocated by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

“As an important regional asset, Griffiss International Airport has been a key contributor in helping to grow our local economy in the Utica-Rome area. The additional $369,000 in federal grants I assisted in securing will allow Griffiss to upgrade outdated infrastructure to better serve the aviation needs of Mohawk Valley,” said Tenney, R-22, New Hartford.
