Moorehead’s 22 points lead HP


Shane Moorehead scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Holland Patent boys junior varsity basketball team to a 62-57 victory on the road over South Jefferson on Saturday.

Marquis Magyar chipped in with 11 points for the Golden Knights, including the game-clinching three-pointer with 10 seconds to go.

HP moves to 8-6 with the win.

Westmoreland places second

The Westmoreland girls JV volleyball team placed second in the Frankfort-Schuyler tournament held on Saturday.

Westmoreland defeated the hosts 2-0, and played Owen D. Young and Central Valley Academy to 1-1 splits. CVA won the tournament with a 2-0 victory over the Bulldogs in the final match.

Liz Sill was picked as the tournament all-star. Katie Fedor led the Bulldogs with nine aces and 21 service points. Sill had eight kills and four assists and Tori Acee had four aces and eight service points.
