Mohawk Valley Section III players dot NYSSCOGS

The New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports (NYSSCOGS) released its 2022 all-state softball team late Thursday.

Of the Section III athletes included on the teams, there were 11 players from schools around the Mohawk Valley.

The group is highlighted by Oneida’s Kaylin Curro — the Tri-Valley League Player of the Year who is set to play for Binghamton University next season — after being named to the first team in Class B. She was also named to the first team in 2021.

Curro, Camden’s Brooke Musch, Cooperstown’s Danielle Seamon and Poland’s Shelbi Hagues and Logan Cookinham are among the repeat selections from 2021.

Here are the players from the area who earned honors:

Class A

Third team: Sienna Holmes, New Hartford junior pitcher.

Sixth team: Alex Volo, New Hartford junior infielder; Brooke Musch, Camden sophomore centerfielder.

Class B

First team: Kaylin Curro, Oneida senior shortstop.

Class C

Fourth team: Maggie Trinkaus, Utica-Notre Dame sophomore catcher.

Fifth team: Danielle Seamon, Cooperstown junior pitcher/third base; Ella Trinkaus, Utica-Notre Dame eighth-grade pitcher.

Class D

Second team: Juliet Tagliaferri, Oriskany junior pitcher.

Third team: Jordyn Carlo, Oriskany senior infielder; Shelbi Hagues, Poland junior pitcher.

Fourth team: Logan Cookinham, Poland, junior first base
