Mohawk Valley infection positivity rate for COVID-19 is 7.21%


There were 31 COVID-19-related deaths across the state on Tuesday and the seven day average statewide infection positivity rate was 3.47%, according to information from Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office, in a Wednesday release.

Drilling down into the numbers, the governor's office noted the Mohawk Valley regional infection positivity rate was measured at 7.21% as of Tuesday, Nov. 16.

With an eye toward the upcoming winter holidays, officials continue the call for vaccination and adhering to health and safety protocols.

"In order to spend the holidays safely with our loved ones, we must stay vigilant in our fight against COVID-19," Hochul said in a statement. "If you have not done so yet, get vaccinated. If you have a child, protect them by getting them vaccinated. And if you have already been vaccinated but feel at risk, get your booster shot and we can end this pandemic together."  

Oneida County

On Tuesday, there were 187 new positive cases of COVID-19 and one new virus-related death.

The county infection positivity rate was measured at 5.9%.

On Wednesday, 57 Oneida County residents were hospitalized. Of those, 39 were unvaccinated and 18 were vaccinated. In a breakdown, there were 40 patients at Mohawk Valley Health System, 11 at Rome Health and six out of county.
