Mohawk Valley Chamber Alliance to celebrate 25th anniversary with luncheon program on May 3 to mark milestone
WHITESBORO — Established in 1997, the Mohawk Valley Alliance of Chambers of Commerce and Affiliate Partners will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a luncheon on Tuesday, May 3, at the Harts Hill Inn, 135 Clinton St., according to an announcement by the Genesis Group.
The luncheon’s keynote speaker will be Adam Milton, vice president of Wolfspeed’s Mohawk Valley microchip fabrication facility — the world’s largest silicon carbide semiconductor facility.
Jennifer Waters, vice president of business development and communications at Mohawk Valley EDGE, will give an overview of local municipal efforts as part of the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
Those wishing to attend the luncheon and help commemorate the milestone is requested to RSVP via email to Rachels@americu.org.
The organization began with seven members and now consists of 23 chambers of commerce and affiliate partners.
As an umbrella organization, the Alliance’s purpose is to address concerns of the regional business community, officials said, including such topics as tourism, economic development, health care, business/community promotion, education, and workforce development, among others.
As the organization and the need for more administrative guidance grew, by 2020 the Genesis Group was recommended to take on the administrative duties and the Alliance, in turn, would became a committee within the framework of Genesis.
The motion was unanimously approved effective January 2021, according to the luncheon announcement.
Despite much of the past 22 months being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alliance gathered for 25 virtual meetings and forums while also maintaining an ongoing dialogue with local, county, state, and national business groups and elected officials in order to stay updated and informed on issues of importance to employers, the announcement by the Genesis Group said.
The collaboration is benefiting the region’s business community, particularly during times of economic uncertainty filled with both challenges and opportunities, the announcement added.
