Ministry seeks donations of adult incontinence products

HOLLAND PATENT — The Foothills Rural Community Ministry is holding a drive for adult incontinence products.

In past years, an infant diaper drive was sometimes held in May in honor of Mother’s Day.  Recently the Foothills ministry has been a recipient of a grant of 10,000 baby diapers (and wipes), so those needs are met at the moment, officials said.

However, according to Sonya Ellinger, FRCM Director, “There is a greater need for Adult diapers in our community. With hours of research and calls to other agencies, I am finding out there is very little help to individuals and next to nothing for non-profits. As you may or may not know, diapers (of any kind) can not be purchased with Food Stamps. This is a very expensive purchase for our client base.”

In order to meet this need, the FRCM is asking the public to donate adult incontinence products to the FRCM Food Pantry. The donations may be brought to the Pantry when it is open, or a donor may call the office at 315-865-5854, to arrange for a convenient time to drop off these donations. Monetary donations to purchase these products is also welcome and can be made by sending a check to Foothills Rural Community Ministry, PO Box 156, Holland Patent, NY 13354.  Diapers should be written on the memo line of the check.

Although this drive is beginning in May in honor of Mother’s Day, donations are welcome throughout the year. “These donations will be a tremendous help, as the clients will have more money to purchase food, rather than these needed items,” the announcement added.
