Minicozzi to receive Manfred scholarship

Lilyann Minicozzi, a senior at Rome Free Academy, is the 2022 winner of the Robert D. Manfred Scholarship, according to an announcement by scholarship officials. As a result, she will receive up to $40,000 towards the cost of her college education.

Minicozzi is ranked third in her class of 373. She was also a member of the RFA varsity gymnastics team for five seasons, beginning in the eighth grade. She will attend Syracuse University, majoring in Industrial Design.

The Robert D. Manfred Scholarship was created in the memory of Robert D. Manfred, Sr., a long-time resident of Rome and a 2016 inductee to the Rome Sports Hall of Fame for his contributions to youth sports and RFA athletics.

The scholarship provides financial assistance to graduating seniors residing in Rome and surrounding communities who are pursuing bachelor’s degrees at accredited institutions of higher education, and who, like its namesake, combine a love of sports with academic excellence.
