Meet Big Momma: The Humane Society’s oldest cat
Hey everyone! My name is Big Momma, and I currently hold the title of oldest cat residing at the Humane Society of Rome. I am honored!
I am 10 years young and have been living at the shelter since February. A senior? me? I certainly don’t feel like one! I still have a lot of "kitten" in me. I am a gorgeous calico lady and have lived with another older cat in my previous home. I’m a very social eater and I like to be petted while I enjoy my meals. I enjoy company when it’s dinnertime. Ask me about my day and I will be happy to tell you!
I have a very soft meow. Another unique thing about me is that I have a “litter bed box” that I love to sleep in. Although it’s officially a litter box (minus the litter of course) the shelter staff put a nice soft blanket inside for me and I will just curl up and catch my zzzzz’s. Another favorite spot of mine is on top of the cat tree just looking out the window — perhaps looking for someone to adopt me? At 10 years of age I still have a lot of life left in me! Thank you for your help, Winston. - Love, Big Momma
Winston says: Hi Big Momma I love your name and I love your positive spirit! Age is just a number — senior cats rule! You have so much to offer someone and I know you would make a wonderful and loving companion for that someone special. Readers, please stop down to the shelter and meet Big Momma in-person. She will be happy you did and so will you.
Cat toys needed
We have an urgent need for cat toys. We have a large feline population at the shelter and we don't have quite enough cat toys to go around. We want to make sure we keep our cats happy, entertained and energized while waiting for their forever homes. They need to keep their minds stimulated so boredom does not set in (and have fun of course!) and toys do the trick! Thank you.
Spay/neuter fund
It’s that time of year when spring is upon us. What does that mean to an animal shelter? Kittens and puppies! Which leads me to let my readers know that we welcome your very kind donations, especially those made for our spay/neuter fund. The rising cost of spaying and neutering our animals is sometimes overwhelming. We thank you for your support.
