Measure could support expansion of Sherrill biz

Posted

Among actions approved during a regular Oneida County Board of Legislators meeting conducted Wednesday was a measure that paved the way for the county planning commission to submit an application to the state Office of Community Renewal for Community Development Block Grants totaling $750,000, and a public hearing being scheduled.

“The community development block grants funds will provide funding assistance to Briggs and Stratton, LLC in the City of Sherrill which will result in the creation of up to 240 new jobs,” notes the resolution. The funds will help the company support an expansion project. The first of two required public hearings on the matter will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 in the 10th floor legislative chamber of the Oneida County Office Building at 800 Park Ave. in Utica.

The date for the second public hearing is yet to be determined.
