Hey Winston:

How are you? My name is Mateo, a 3-year-old terrier/pit mix canine that was brought into the shelter as a stray. I get along quite well with everyone, staff and other dogs included. I enjoy attention, being petted and I love getting treats.

I know basic commands like “speak” “sit” “shake” and “lay down.” Play time for me is almost all the time and I really (really) enjoy eating, which is a good thing because when I was brought into the shelter I was a bit undernourished.

I am a “people dog” — I adore everyone, including children and maybe even cats!

Anyone interested in adopting me would have to let the shelter staff know ahead of time if there are any other pets in the household.

Thank you, Winston, I am so excited to see what kind of response I receive.

Happy 2020!

Sincerely, Mateo

Winston says:

Hi Mateo:

Thank you for writing! It’s good to know that even after all you have been through living out on the streets that you (a) have a good appetite and (b) get along with everyone!

I have a feeling you won’t have to wait too long to find that forever home.

Readers, please stop by and see this handsome young man and all of his friends, both canine and feline alike. Let’s help to change some lives for the better for the New Year (and well beyond!)

Thank you!

Sincerely, Winston
