UTICA — The Major Arena Soccer League is set to converge on the Utica University Nexus Center this fall.

The indoor soccer league announced that its second Pro Player Combine is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 19 through Sunday, Oct. 22 at the recently opened multi-use facility connected to the Adirondack Bank Center.

Utica City FC practices at the Nexus Center after previously practicing predominately in the Syracuse area.

The combine gives coaches in the 14-team MASL “an opportunity to scout top-tier, high caliber soccer talent,” according to a news release.

All Utica City FC season ticket members will receive free tickets to the MASL Pro Player Combine and Draft. Tickets will be available to purchase for the general public at a later date, according to a release.

The combine is for domestic and international players over the age of 18 years old who are looking to compete at the highest level of indoor soccer, the release said.

Players selected to attend will compete in three days of testing, drills and “live game-play,” the release said.

Players making it through the three days will be eligible for the MASL Pro Player Combine Draft and invited to join MASL teams at their pre-season training, the release said.

Players can apply for the combine at www.maslsoccer.com/masl-pro-combine. Each player will vetted by the MASL League Office. There is a $25 nonrefundable fee due at the time of application.

“We are incredibly excited about Utica City FC and the Utica University Nexus Center hosting the draft,” Utica City FC General Manager Tommy Tanner said in a release. “This is a remarkable opportunity for us to showcase the new facility and for our fanbase to have a unique experience with some of the league’s premier names. I can’t think of a better way to kick off the 2023-24 season than hosting a marquee event like this.”

The 2023-24 schedule has not been released. Last year, the season started in late November.
