Marijane Prosser

Marijane Prosser, 75, of N. Lake St., Oneida, formerly of the Ava area, passed away on Sunday morning, September 19, 2021, at her home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born on November 2, 1945, in Carthage, the daughter of Merrill and Mary Shampine Irey. She attended St. Augustine High School in Carthage.

On May 30, 1970, Marijane was united in marriage to William A. Prosser in the Ava Methodist Church.

Marijane enjoyed crocheting and finding seashells on the beach, especially Myrtle Beach. She spent many summers camping and fishing with her family at Selkirk Shores State Park. She always looked forward to an intense game of pitch or a challenging board game, especially scrabble, with her family and friends.

Surviving besides her loving husband, Bill; are her four children, Patrick (Katherine) Prashaw, of Boonville, Colleen Prashaw, of Rome, Katherine (Mark) Ammann, of Oneida, and Dawn (Dustin) Breen, of Pawleys Island; four brothers, Michael Irey, of Carthage, Marc (Kim) Irey, of SC, Merrill “Frank” (Nancy) Irey, of SC, Martin “Chip” (Kim) Irey, of Brownville; fifteen grandchildren, Darby (Matthew) Startley, William (Erin) DeGroat, Darrin Johnson, Diana Holstein, Megan (John) Shetler, Sarah Ammann, Scott Ammann, Amanda (Jake) Taylor, Patrick (Nicole) Prashaw Jr., Alexander Prashaw, Lucas (Lauren) Prashaw, Robert Lee, Kendall Lee, Cameron Breen, and Mackenzie Breen; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Marijane was predeceased by two infant daughters, Dawn Marie, and Diana Lynn.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main St., Camden, where Pastor Jeff Moore will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
