Marie Mazzaferro, 93, of Rome, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Rome Memorial Hospital. Born in Utica on June 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Vito and Mary (Denarola) Gagliardi. Marie was a graduate of St. Francis High School and on September 9, 1956 she was united in marriage to Frank S. Mazzaferro. He passed away August 18, 2012.
Marie started her working career at Bank of Utica followed by Oneida National Bank in Rome. She later became involved in her husband’s family business, Mazzaferro’s Meat Market, as a manager.
She was a communicant at St. Paul’s Church.
Marie is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Frank and Pam Mazzaferro of Oneida, Joseph and Lisa Mazzaferro of Rome and Brian and Julia Mazzaferro of Ava; two sisters, Philomena (Michael) Pandolf of Rochester and Anna Giordano of New Hartford; seven grandchildren, Frank, Letitia, Brittany, Jennifer, Joseph, Joshua and Samuel; a great-grandson, Dominic; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Gagliardi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, 1807 Bedford St., Rome. Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
