Marcia G. Bogle


Marcia G. Bogle, 98, of Camden, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Rome Memorial Hospital. Born in Rochester on August 12, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William and Frances (Williams) Graver. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science from SUNY-Geneseo. On December 29, 1944, she was united in marriage to Bernard Bogle. He passed away in 1989.

Marcia worked as a librarian for the Carthage Central School District and Schroon Lake School District before retiring from the Camden Central School District.

She was very active in the community and served in many capacities including: Brownie Scout Leader, Sunday School Superintendent for the United Methodist Church in Camden, Secretary of the Area Association of Churches, Director of the Vacation Bible School and Released Time Religious Ed.; community representative for the Salvation Army, Head Start, Talamo’s Men’s Home and DDSO Day Treatment; member of ARC Board of Directors; Chairperson of the Seniorversity study program for the Friendship Corner program for the frail elderly; President of the Camden Library Board of Directors; and Assistant Director of the Camden Area Food Pantry.

Marcia is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ed O’Rourke, Debra and Bob Pelton and Pamela and Peter Brazie; six grandchildren, Debbie O’Rourke, Lori (Tom) Brown, Danielle (Craig) Bailey, Lindsay (Jared Roberson) Halpin, James (Heidi) Turner and Bradley (Karlene) Brazie; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a brother, William Graver.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marcia’s memory may be made to the Camden United Methodist Church, the Camden Library or the Camden Area Food Pantry. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 State Rt. 13, Camden.
