Manlius town councilor announces 2024 NY-22 Congressional run
MANLIUS — Katelyn Kriesel, a Manlius town council member, has announced her candidacy for New York’s 22nd Congressional district in 2024.
Kriesel, who is running as a Democrat, made the announcement in a Thursday, Feb. 9 tweet. Kriesel’s campaign filed a Statement of Candidacy as “Katelyn for Congress” with the Federal Election Commission on Jan. 30.
“As a single mother, a small business owner and local town councilor in Manlius, I know Central New York. I understand the needs of our community since I’ve lived here all my life. That’s why I’m ready to serve by running for Congress in NY-22!” Kriesel said.
Kriesel was raised in Central New York, and has been a town councilor since 2020. She is now serving her second term, which is up in 2025.
The current representative for NY-22 is Brandon Williams, who was elected to the position in November 2022. He ran on Republican and Conservative lines and defeated Democrat Francis Conole.
The NY-22 seat will be up for reelection in November 2024.
