A 25-year-old man who slammed his 2-year-old son through a wall in Rome has been sentenced to one month in county jail.
Brandon J. Shugars, of Milborn Drive, Conkling, formerly of Rome, was sentenced by County Court Judge Michael L. Dwyer this morning to 30 days in jail and three years probation on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child, court officials said.
Police said on Feb. 11, Shugars picked his 2-year-old son up by the ears at their North Crescent Drive residence and slammed the boy’s head through the sheetrock. Police said the child suffered multiple scrapes and bruises on the left side of his face and head.
The following day, police said Shugars’ girlfriend noticed the injuries and confronted him about it. Police said Shugars choked the woman by wrapping his arm around her neck. Police said Shugars also flipped a table in the living room, damaged a cabinet door and threw a dining room chair.
