Man pleads not guilty in domestic dispute


A Rome man has pleaded not guilty in County Court to charges stemming from a domestic dispute, according to court officials.

Brian Platt Jr., 28, of Rome, pleaded not guilty before Judge Dwyer March 29 to one count each of second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities said Platt choked a woman in Yorkville on Dec. 26, then choked the woman against in Rome on Jan. 2. Authorities said Platt attacked the woman in front of a 5-month-old girl in Rome.

• Joseph R. Walker, 38, of 2694 Oneida St., Verona Beach, pleaded guilty before Judge Bauer March 29 to one count of third-degree rape. His case was adjourned for sentencing to June 11. Authorities said Walker raped a 15-year-old girl in Sylvan Beach in March 2018.

• Clayton Hunt, 19, of 14 Homestead Road West, New Hartford, pleaded guilty before Judge Dwyer April 10 to second-degree rape. His case was adjourned for sentencing to May 30. Authorities said Hunt raped a 14-year-old girl in Westmoreland in December 2018.
