Man killed on Golly Road in state trooper-involved shooting


TOWN OF LEE — State police are investigating a shooting involving a state trooper on Golly Road in Lee Tuesday night.

Authorities said law enforcement and rescue personnel were dispatched to the residence for a reported drug overdose at about 8:30 p.m. Authorities said a 24-year-old male confronted the responding personnel with a weapon and the trooper drew his duty weapon and fired.

The man was rushed to Rome Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured. The identities of the victim and the trooper have not yet been released.

Calls to the state police and other agencies seeking further details have not been immediately returned this morning.

Golly Road runs west and east between Lee Valley Road and West Thomas Street, southwest of Lee Center.
