TOWN OF SALISBURY — A 41-year-old man was killed when his UTV rear-ended another UTV in Herkimer County Saturday afternoon, according to law enforcement officials.
State police said Michael T. Miles, of Mohawk, was westbound in the eastbound lane of Thompson Road at a high rate of speed at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Troopers said Miles' 2020 Yamaha UTV struck the rear of a 2019 Honda UTV and overturned.
Troopers said Miles was not wearing a helmet. Troopers said Miles was thrown out of his vehicle in the crash.
Miles was pronounced dead on arrival to Little Falls Hospital, authorities stated.
The operator of the Honda UTV, 41-year-old Richard Lamphere, of Salisbury, was not injured, troopers said. The crash remains under investigation.
