A Utica man was charged with felony possession of both marijuana and firearms following a domestic dispute on Tuesday, according to local law enforcement officials.
Police said Jonathan Hines, 38, punched his girlfriend in the face during a domestic dispute on South Street on Tuesday.
Police said they searched the residence and found a .9mm handgun, a loaded magazine, a military-style ballistic vest and a large quantity of marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags.
Hines is charged with one count each of third-degree possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm and second-degree possession of marijuana, all felonies, as well as one count of second-degree harassment, police stated.
He is scheduled to appear in City Court.
Meanwhile, police said Hines was the victim in a Dec. 14 shooting in Utica. Another man, 35-year-old Brandwell Watkins, was charged in the shooting and is also proceeding through City Court, police stated.
