Utica man faces weapons charges
UTICA — A 21-year-old man is facing multiple charges after two loaded handguns were found in a vehicle on Henry Street Wednesday night, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police said they joined New York State Parole on a residence check in the 500 block at about 9:20 p.m. July 13.
When they went to look into a vehicle associated with the person they were checking on, police said someone fled from the backseat and ran away down Henry Street.
Nassir Hussein, 21, of Utica, was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, and police said he was told to remain seated.
A search of the vehicle then uncovered a loaded 9mm handgun on the floor of the backseat, and a loaded .38-caliber revolver under Hussein’s seat, police stated.
Hussein was taken into custody, the law enforcers said.
Hussein is charged with two counts each of second-degree possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, authorities said.
He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court, the law enforcers added.
