TOWN OF TURIN — A Lewis County man has been charged with vandalizing the lawn at South Lewis High School by driving his pickup truck across it.

Sheriff's deputies said Jonathan R. Thayer, 20, of Lincoln Street, Port Leyden, twice drove his 1998 Dodge Ram across the lawn at the South Lewis High School on East Road at about 9 p.m. June 23. Deputies said the pickup truck damaged the lawn.

Following an investigation, Thayer was identified and was taken into custody on Saturday.

Thayer is charged with one count each of fourth-degree mischief, a misdemeanor, and failure to keep right, deputies stated. He is scheduled to appear in Town Court.
