ROME — A 30-year-old man was found with quantities of both methamphetamine and fentanyl in Rome Tuesday afternoon, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said Stephen W. Smith, of Rome, was spotted riding in a motor vehicle on South James Street at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, with an open Rome City Court bench warrant against him. The vehicle pulled into a parking lot on South James Street and Smith was taken into custody for the warrant.

A search of the vehicle uncovered quantities of meth and fentanyl, police said.

Smith is charged with two counts of seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, as well as the bench warrant for not appearing in court, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
