UTICA — One man was killed and another person is in critical condition following a one-car crash on Route 790 in Utica Tuesday night, according to the Utica Police Department.

Police said the car crashed and came to rest on its roof in the eastbound lanes of Route 790, just past the Route 12 south ramp, at about 9:10 p.m. Tuesday. Responding officers said they found two people who had been ejected from the vehicle when it crashed.

Quadre Deberry, 29, of Utica, died from his injuries at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, police said. The other man, 19-year-old Todd Janicke, of Whitesboro, was last listed in critical condition Tuesday night, police stated.

The crash remains under investigation. An accident reconstruction team remained on scene through the night.

The identities of those involved are expected to be released pending notification of next of kin.
