A 36-year-old Rome man was taken into custody and charged with having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl.
Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, director of the county Child Advocacy Center, said on Sept. 26, the CAC was contacted by a Rome police officer who received a report that Carl Croniser smoked marijuana with the 14-year-old girl and had sexual contact with her.
Utica Police Inv. Titus Ciccone, assigned to the Child Advocacy Center, conducted the investigation and on Monday, while assisted by Sheriff’s Inv. Mark Chrysler, took Croniser into custody in the Town of Camden.
Croniser was charged with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a class B misdemeanor; and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor. He will appear in City Court, the law enforcers added.
O’Meara said an order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim and services have been offered through the CAC.
