TOWN OF LEYDEN — A 23-year-old was charged with punching someone in the face and damaging their cell phone so they were unable to call 911 Monday.
Lewis County Sheriff’s deputies said they responded to a report of a physical domestic at Sullivan’s Trailer Park at 6:22 p.m.
Upon arrival, deputies said they learned that James R. Chapman, of the same address, punched the victim in the face several times and threw their cell phone to prevent them from completing a 911 call.
Chapman was charged with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief, both class A misdemeanors. He was arraigned in Turin Town Court and sent to Lewis County Jail in lieu of $50 cash bail or $100 bond.
