A 27-year-old man found locked inside the Stewart’s Shop on Erie Boulevard after it had closed has been charged with possessing synthetic marijuana, according to law enforcement officials.
Police said they were dispatched to the Stewart’s Shop at about 1:16 a.m. today after an alarm went off inside the store. Police said they found Reese J. Wyndecker, 27, of Rome, standing inside the store with the doors locked. Stewart’s closed at midnight.
Upon speaking with Wyndecker and reviewing security camera footage from inside the store, police said it was learned that Wyndecker went into the bathroom while the store was still open and did not come out until the store was closed and locked up for the night.
Police said Wyndecker was found with a quantity of marijuana, a package of synthetic marijuana and several hypodermic needles. Police said Wyndecker was able to let himself out through a back door of the store.
Wyndecker has been charged with the city codes violation of possession of synthetic marijuana, authorities said. He was released on an appearance ticket for City Court.
Police said the case remains under investigation.
