Man accused of thefts from pair of Erie Blvd stores

A 20-year-old man is accused of stealing from both Advanced Auto Parts and the FasTrac on Erie Boulevard West over the course of several days.

Police said Jahzire E. Brown, of Rome, stole a $100 battery charger jump box from Advanced Auto Parts on Erie Boulevard West on Wednesday, Oct. 6. The next day, police said Brown returned to Advanced Auto Parts and stole a $94 LED light bar.

Police said the employees recognized Brown, but he snatched the light bar and fled before they could stop him.

At 4:30 a.m. Saturday, police said they were called to the FasTrac on Erie Boulevard because the glass front door had been smashed. Police said a sunglasses rack had been used to smash the glass, and then Brown made multiple trips in and out of the store.

Police said Brown stole $459 worth of cigarettes and beer from the convenience store.

Officers searched the area of the FasTrac and said they spotted Brown bicycling on West Dominick Street. Police said Brown did not stop when officers attempted to pull him over and he instead fled into an apartment in the 400 block. He was taken into custody.

Brown is charged with one count each of felony third-degree burglary and petty larceny.

He is scheduled to appear in City Court.
