Man accused of stealing woman’s phone then shooting at her
UTICA — A 23-year-old man is accused of stealing a woman’s cell phone and then shooting at her car in Utica, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police said Markus Dibrango, of Utica, approached an acquaintance on Varick Street on the night of July 7 and got into an argument with her.
Police said Dibrango snatched the woman’s cell phone and identification out of her hand, then fled the scene.
Some time later, police said the woman was driving near Lenox Avenue and Court Street when she spotted Dibrango walking by.
The woman told police that Dibrango recognized her vehicle and pulled out a handgun, firing one shot into the front of her vehicle. The woman drove home and contacted law enforcement.
Dibrango was taken into custody on one count each of second and third-degree possession of a weapon, first and second-degree contempt, first-degree reckless endangerment and fourth-degree grand larceny, police stated.
He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court, the law enforcers said.
