A 24-year-old man is accused of stealing a car from Eastup Automotive Repair on West Dominick Street, according to law enforcement officials.
Police said Roberto Carvalho, of 425 W. Court St., stole a 2009 Pontiac G6 from the auto repair shop in the 600 block of W. Dominick St. on Saturday. Police said the vehicle was located at Carvalho’s residence the following day.
Carvalho is charged with one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, police stated. He is scheduled to appear in court.
Police warn all car businesses and repair shop owners to lock up both the vehicles in the lot and their associated keys and fobs to protect from thefts.
Meanwhile, Carvalho was previously charged on May 21 in New Hartford for damaging a motor vehicle in the parking lot of St. Luke’s Hospital.
New Hartford Police said Carvalho had ingested a substance that caused him to behave erratically, including jumping up and down on the hood of a car. He was charged with fourth-degree mischief, endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest and is awaiting court on that case as well.
