NEW HARTFORD — A contractor’s employee is accused of stealing cash and jewelry from a house in New Hartford, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies said David Schmandt, 35, of Brantingham, was working for a contractor at a residence in New Hartford when he stole more than $3,000 in cash and jewelry from the home. Schmandt was taken into custody on Tuesday.
Schmandt is charged with one count each of third-degree grand larceny and third-degree possession of stolen property, both class D felonies, as well as petty larceny, a misdemeanor, deputies stated. He is scheduled to appear in court.
