A 24-year-old man is accused of spitting chewing tobacco into a woman’s face during a custody dispute in Rome.
Police said Richard A. Zammiello, of Lawrence Street, was involved in a custody dispute at about 6 p.m. Oct. 13. Police said Zammiello got into an argument with the other party and spit his chewing tobacco into her face. Police said Zammiello then got a jug of chewing tobacco spit out of his vehicle and threw it at her.
Police said Zammiello had been court-ordered not to harm the woman. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Zammiello was taken into custody on the warrant on Friday on one count each of second-degree harassment and second-degree contempt, police stated. He is scheduled to appear in City Court.
