Man accused of groping child


TOWN OF LEE — A registered sex offender has been charged with groping an underage child over the course of several years, according to the county Child Advocacy Center.

Investigators said Mark Yaddow, 35, of Rome, had unwanted sexual contact with a child around the age of 13 over the course of several years in the Town of Lee.

Yaddow was taken into custody on Thursday.

Yaddow is charged with one count each of forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said. He was arraigned in court and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to reappear in court.

The victim has been offered counseling through the CAC. Authorities said Yaddow is a registered level 3 sex offender. According to state records, Yaddow was previously convicted of first-degree sex abuse in 2005 in Rome.
