A 40-year-old man has been charged with endangering his daughter after law enforcement officials said she tried to call 9-1-1 while her parents were arguing.
Police said David J. Ashley, of West Bloomfield Street, was in an argument with his wife at their residence at about 1 a.m. Thursday. During the argument, the couple’s 12-year-old daughter fled to her room and tried to call 9-1-1 for help. Police said Ashley followed her in and snatched the phone from her hands.
Police said the argument continued and the daughter retrieved her phone again to call 9-1-1 a second time. Police said Ashley followed her back into her room and pulled on the girl’s hair to try to find the phone.
Ashley is charged with one count each of fourth-degree mischief and endangering the welfare of a child, police stated. He is scheduled to appear in City Court.
