Man accused of drunk driving after pickup gets stuck in mud

TOWN OF WESTERN — A Remsen man was charged with drunken driving after his pickup truck became stuck in the mud off Route 46 Thursday night.

State police said Jason A. Heaton, 30, of Remsen, was involved in a one vehicle accident at about 11:16 p.m. April 1 off the side of Route 46 in Western.

Fire officials said Heaton’s pickup truck sank into soft mud. No one was hurt, the officials added.

Heaton is charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or greater, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and driving without a DWI interlock device, troopers said.

He was released on an appearance ticket for Town Court to answer the charges.
