ROME — A Boonville man has been charged with breaking into Madison Plaza Apartments through a laundry room window, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said Richard K. Yelton, 37, was spotted climbing through a window at the apartment building on North Madison Street at about noon on Oct. 2. Police said Yelton damaged the window while forcing his way inside, without permission from property management or any tenants.

Following an investigation, police said Yelton was identified and later taken into custody on Wednesday.

Yelton is charged with one count each of third-degree trespass and fourth-degree mischief, police stated. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
