Man, 65, hurt in logging accident


TOWN OF LEE — A 65-year-old man was hospitalized after a fallen tree pinned his legs off Quaker Hill Road Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies said Robert Pfendler, of Lee, lost his balance after cutting down a tree in the woods at about 2:40 p.m.

Deputies said Pfendler fell to the ground and the tree bounced and rolled onto his legs.

Pfendler used his cell phone to call for help and rescue personnel from the Lee Center and Western fire departments responded and removed the tree.

Authorities said Pfendler
suffered minor injuries to his
legs and he was treated at
St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.
