Man, 28, sent for treatment of injuries after car hits guard rail

A Utica man was hospitalized after his car hit a guide rail on Route 49 in Rome early this morning, according to a report by local law enforcement
officials.

Sheriff’s deputies said Sherman Reed Jr., 28, of Utica, was eastbound on Route 49 shortly after 8 a.m. when he attempted to change lanes and his 2006 BMW hit the guard rail.

Deputies said Reed was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Hartford for minor injuries suffered in the crash.

No tickets were issued in the crash.
