NELSON — The investigation remains ongoing into an alleged drug overdose in the home of Madison County Court Judge candidate Bradley J. Moses, who has tested positive for having fentanyl in his system, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

No criminal charges have been filed.

Authorities said Moses and another man were found unresponsive at his home on Tuscarora Road in the Town of Nelson on the night of July 30. The two men were administered multiple doses of the overdose-halting drug Narcan and were treated at a Syracuse Hospital.

At the time, investigators said a field test of the drugs on the scene tested positive for the opioid fentanyl.

Moses denied that he had ingested drugs. Moses had been a prosecutor with the Madison County District Attorney’s Office at the time and has since resigned.

On Wednesday, investigators said a toxicology report on Moses had been completed and he tested positive for fentanyl, marijuana and alcohol being in his system at the time of the overdose.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing into the source of the drugs that led to the overdose. Good Samaritan laws in New York allow people who call 911 during drug overdoses to avoid criminal charges.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 315-366-2311.

Meanwhile, Moses remains the Republican and Conservative candidate for Madison County Court judge in November. There is no Democratic candidate. Another candidate, Rhonda Youngs, is running a write-in campaign with the support of the Republican and Conservative parties.
