WAMPSVILLE — Madison County will hold a tax foreclosure auction of approximately 45 properties at 10 a.m. Sept. 21, at the Kallet Civic Center at 159 Main St., Oneida, Treasurer Cindy Edick, has announced.

Many of the properties in the auction will be available to preview the day before, according to a showing schedule posted to the auction company’s website Sept. 13. All auction information, including the entire list of properties and a copy of the auction e-brochure is available at www.NYSAuctions.com. A printed auction brochure is available by visiting the Madison County office building, any town clerk’s office in the county, or by calling 1-800-243-0061. People interested in buying real property at the auction are urged to attend a free bidder’s seminar at the Madison County Office Building at 7 p.m. Sept 12. Pre-auction bidder registration begins at 6 p.m.

Auction-day registration will begin at 8 a.m. Prospective bidders must register by signing the terms and conditions, produce photo identification such as a valid driver’s license or passport and provide a Social Security number before obtaining a bidding number. Incorporated entities will need to provide a copy of the EIN number, state filing receipt and corporate resolution authorizing the registrant to bid. Successful bidders will be required to tender a deposit equal to $500 or 25% of the total contract price (the sum of the bid price plus the buyer’s premium), whichever is greater, at the auction.

The deposit must be paid by cash, bank teller or cashier check, money order or credit card (Master Card, Discover or VISA only). When a bank teller or cashier check or money order is used for the deposit, it must be made payable directly to: Madison County Treasurer, with no further endorsement. Business checks and personal checks will not be accepted. All properties are sold “as is” and officials suggest prospective bidders complete their due-diligence research prior to bidding at the auction.
