Madison County announces new vaccine clinic

WAMPSVILLE — Madison County Department of Health has announced a Johnson & Johnson/Jansen COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Wednesday, May 5, from noon to 4 p.m. at 1019 Northside Shopping Center in Oneida.

After a brief pause in using the vaccine to study reports of some rare adverse conditions, federal officials have resumed recommending use of the J&J Covid-19 vaccine, citing both its safety and its success against the coronavirus.

Currently, any New Yorker over the age of 16 is currently eligible to receive a vaccine, however J&J is approved only for those 18 years and older. The Madison County Department of Health asks people who receive the J&J vaccine to monitor themselves and notify their doctor should they develop severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath within three weeks after vaccination. Those without a doctor are advised to contact the Madison County Public Health Department at 315-366-2361.
