Maciol recognized for highway safety
ALBANY — Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol was recognized by the state Friday morning for his commitment to highway safety and reducing traffic crashes, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee held their 2022 New York State Highway Symposium at the Desmond Hotel in Albany Friday morning, bringing together more than 300 highway safety professionals from across the state to share, promote and learn about the latest highway safety initiatives, officials said.
Maciol was awarded the NYS Governor’s Traffic Safety Chair Award.
Sheriff’s officials said they make highway safety a priority and take a multifaceted approach to keeping all road users safe.
They touted their multiple events throughout the year seeking to educate motorists about slow-moving vehicles and snowmobile safety, including the Share the Road campaign.
The Sheriff’s Office also noted their frequent efforts to reach out to both young drivers and older drivers about safety.
