Machine fire spreads to roof at International Wire
SHERRILL — No one was injured after a machine fire spread to the roof at International Wire in Sherrill very early Tuesday morning, according to the Sherrill-Kenwood Fire Department.
Officials said the alarm was raised at 1:22 a.m. inside the manufacturing plant on Kenwood Road. A machine had caught fire and it had spread up to the ceiling and roof, officials stated.
The building's sprinkler system was activated and extinguished most of the fire inside, authorities said. Responding volunteers used a ladder truck to reach the roof of International Wire to knock down the spread. The fire was declared under control at 2:10 a.m.
No one was injured, authorities stated. All crews were back in service by 3:30 a.m.
The Sherrill, Oneida Castle, Vernon, Vernon Center, Oneida and Verona fire departments responded to the scene, with Munnsville on standby.
