Lucille ‘LuLu’ Bevelaqua

Lucille “LuLu” Bevelaqua, 88, of Centereach, NY, passed away at home, on Sunday, December 23, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rome, NY, on March 19, 1930, the daughter of the late John and Josephine Puccio. Lucille graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1947. On May 27, 1950 she married the love of her life, Pasquale (Pat) Bevelaqua in Rome, New York. “Chickie and Honey” shared a lifetime of 68 blessed years together.

She cherished and loved her family beyond words. They meant everything to her. Lucille is survived by her beloved husband Pat, and their two daughters, Barbara Bevelaqua and Karen Ungerer (husband Bob). She has two surviving sisters, Theresa Spinelli (husband John) and Mary Jane Benedetto (husband Mike) who still reside in the area. Lucille is also survived by her grandchildren, LeAnn Brandstadter (husband Billy) and Anthony Santana (wife Antoinette) and her great-grandchildren, Lorenzo Anthony and Alessandra Rae Santana. She loved her countless nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Josephine Puccio; two brothers, Sylvester and Joseph Puccio; and three sisters, Connie Guido, Katherine LoRusso and Carmella Grasso.

Lucille was a genuine soul with many endearing qualities, full of grace, class and beauty. There are no calling hours, however, a celebration of Lucille’s life will take place at St. John the Baptist Church, Rome, NY on Saturday, January 19, at 11 a.m.

The family is invited for a celebratory luncheon in honor of Lucille’s life, immediately following the mass, at The Franklin Hotel and Restaurant, located at 301 S. James St., Rome, NY.
