Lowville skating rink opening Dec. 26
LOWVILLE — The Town/Village of Lowville ice skating program will open at noon Monday, Dec. 26 at the pavilion in the Lewis County Fairgrounds on Bostwick Street in the village.
Weather permitting, the rink is open regular hours from 1-3 p.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 1-3 p.m. and 3:30-8 p.m. Wednesday; 1-3 p.m. and 3:30-9 p.m. Friday; 1-9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The school vacation and holiday schedule, weather permitting, is from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday; noon to 9 p.m. Friday with weekends open as usual. The holiday schedule is from Monday, Dec. 26 to Friday, Dec. 30; Monday, Jan. 2; Monday, Jan. 16; and Monday, Feb. 20 through Friday, Feb. 24.
The rink is closed whenever weather or travel conditions are unsuitable for its safe operation.
Thanks to a grant from the Lewis County Youth Bureau, the Recreation Commision has been able to purchase new skates for those who do not have skates, but wish to take advantage of the program.
