HAPPENING TONIGHT: Lowville building, business owners invited to downtown event

LOWVILLE — Naturally Lewis — in partnership with the village of Lowville, the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce and Lewis County — will host a free “Downtown Drinks & Dreams” networking event from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the 1812 House, 7663 N. State St.

Downtown Drinks & Dreams is an event for downtown Lowville business owners and commercial building owners to network, discuss the future of Lowville and prepare for the village’s 2022 New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative application.

The village has submitted a Downtown Revitalization Initiative application for the past two rounds with hopes of securing the $10 million award for downtown Lowville revitalization. As Lowville anticipates the launch of the sixth round of the state’s DRI program later this year, the Downtown Drinks & Dreams event is all about idea generation and information gathering, local event organizers said.

“Although we are anticipating the announcement for the DRI grant competition, we are also welcoming business and building owners to learn more about our local economic development programs like DBA Lewis County, Façade and Streetscape Improvement Program and Vacant Property Revitalization Program available to Lewis County businesses,” said Brittany Davis, executive director of the Lewis County Industrial Development Agency.
