UTICA — The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 944 is holding its 16th annual Gold Star Mothers Ceremony and dinner on Gold Star Mother’s & Family Day on Sunday. There will be a wreath laying ceremony at 2 p.m. at the Gold Star Mothers’ monument within the veterans’ brick walkway at the Captain George A. Wood Postal Facility, 100 Pitcher St., Utica.
The ceremony will consist of the presentation of colors, the playing of the national anthem, chaplain’s prayer and recognition of Gold Star Mothers & Family, speakers, wreath laying, sounding of “Taps” and singing of “God Bless America.”
The ceremony will be approximately 30 minutes.
Following the ceremony there will be a dinner at 4 p.m. at Hart’s Hill Inn at 135 Clinton St. The cost is $20 per person and Gold Star Families will be the guests of VVA.
